Made from The North Face's waterproof/breathable HyVent fabric, the Varius stretches in key areas to allow maximum freedom of movement on hairy technical runs and ascents. Pit zip vents keep the sweathog factor under control, and details like a brushed chin guard and removable hood add the polish that makes a good coat great. Great all-purpose shell
This jacket is great for all around weather protection. It keeps you dry and is totally windproof. It won't keep you warm alone, so when it gets really cold layer a fleece under it, which should be more than enough.

Nice jacket but not for snowboarding
I love the jacket, as an everyday jacket. But the style is a bit too fitted for a snowboard jacket. I guess it just don't have the boarder attitude. Other than that, it's great. It's really warm and feels nice on me.

The coat is all I expected it to be and more.

Great jacket
I purchased the North Face Varius Guide Jacket because of its ability to stretch for athletic activities as well as its feature to be able to zip in a fleece for colder weather. I have not tried it out yet in cold weather due to the fact that we have not had any yet, but just trying it on and wearing around the house, it was real nice.

Excellent jacket!
This jacket has been with me through thick and thin and i'm surprised about its performance. Sure, its exterior may look a little thin, but once you get your body heat into this thing, it WILL NOT escape :)
