For serious expedition wear, the Arc'teryx Alpha SV Bib Pant for women is the new standard. Chest height bib tops give extra protection from wet and snow with or without a jacket. The Alpha SV's Keprotec instep patches won't get eaten by ski edges or crampons. Three quarter length side zips stop just short of your waist, so they won't interfere with a harness or hipbelt. A through-the-crotch WaterTight zip is handy when nature's calling and you have to answer. Constructed from 3-layer Gore-Tex XCR, the Alpha SV Bib is surprisingly lightweight, despite its mind-blowing weather protection.
