Much more breathable than a full hardshell, the Arc'teryx Women's Alpha Comp Hoody handles cold fronts or powder face shots without flinching. The fully featured Storm Hood lets you wear a mountaineering helmet or downhill dome without restricting vision or movement. Gusseted underarms and Durastretch fabric make swinging an ice axe or stretching for the next pole plant easy and unencumbered. The Alpha Comp Hoody's hip-length, drop-back design gives full protection while not interfering with your harness or backpack. This clever hybrid design uses softshell construction for breathability, and hardshell panels where waterproofing is key. The result is a jacket with a broad comfort range that is better in bad weather than a full softshell. *Available for US shipment only.

Ideal for skiing or hiking
I have the men's version of this jacket. I use it for mountaineering, ski touring and skiing. The Alpha Comp is really light weight yet very breathable (soft shell). For this reason, it's good in quite a range of temperatures (I usually wear the Mountain Hardwear Transition Zip Tee underneath). This is one of the nicest jackets I've ever owned.

I love it
It is so nice to wear, but after a few times in the laundry it gets a little small.

Excellent Purchase
This is my first Arc'teryx product, and I'm already sold. I'm petite (5'3") and usually outerwear swallows me up. This jacket is trim and tailored - very flattering. I wore this all weekend over t-shirts and sweaters, and it kept me warm, dry, and comfortable in temps between 55 and dry and 35 and rainy.
